We at Middle East Drilling & Well Services Company are all committed to:

Drug & Alcohol Policy

Purpose:
MIDWESCO is committed to create a healthy and safe working environment for employees, contractors and visitors. Persons who use illegal drugs and alcohol are less productive, less reliable, more prone to accidents, and more prone to greater absenteeism, resulting in the potential for increased accidents, costs, and risks to the company. Therefore, the usage of alcohol and abuse of drugs is totally prohibited in the premises owned or leased by MIDWESCO as well as at customer location.

Scope:
Employees, contractors, and visitors while conducting business with or on behalf of MIDWESCO shall be required to comply with this policy.

Procedure:
In order to achieve compliance with this policy:

  1. MIDWESCO employees, contractors or visitors shall abide to the legal requirements prevailing in Sultanate of Oman pertaining to handling, holding and consuming alcohol, prohibited drugs or intoxicating substances.

  2. MIDWESCO employees, contractors or visitors shall not distribute, possess or use illegal or unauthorized drugs or alcohol on MIDWESCO and its clients’ property, in connection with MIDWESCO business or in a manner that may affect performance of MIDWESCO responsibilities.

  3. MIDWESCO employees, contractors or visitors whose behavior, judgement or performance is impaired by drugs or alcohol shall be prohibited from entering to MIDWESCO or its clients’ premises or engaging in MIDWESCO business such as driving vehicles or operating machines.

  4. The only exception is where the medicines were supplied to the employee on prescription by a registered medical practitioner and are taken in the accordance with the prescription.

  5. MIDWESCO will assist anyone who voluntarily comes forward with problem of drug and alcohol.

  6. It is the responsibility of each employee to advise his/her supervisor or manager when taking a Legal Drug/Illegal Drug which may adversely affect the employee’s ability to perform work in a safe and productive manner. The management will determine if the employee will be allowed to remain at work while taking the Legal Drug/Illegal Drug.

  7. When a reasonable suspicion that an employee is under influence of alcohol or drugs, a test shall be carried out.

  8. Violators of above MIDWESCO drug and alcohol guidelines will be subject to disciplinary measures that may include termination.
